Congratulations
to the Class of 2026!
We are so proud of you. You have accomplished something truly impressive and we cannot wait to celebrate with you on your Big Day.
Below is important information regarding Commencement.
Date and Location
We are delighted to announce that Commencement ("graduation") will take place this year at the iconic Radio City Music Hall in midtown Manhattan. It is a beautiful venue and a perfect setting to celebrate this important milestone in our students’ lives.
Thursday, June 11
Radio City Music Hall
1260 6th Avenue (Avenue of the Americas)
Between W. 50th and W. 51st Streets
New York, NY 10020
Directions to Radio City Music Hall are available here.
Who Walks in June?
Students who completed their studies in the Fall 2025 or Winter 2026 semester, as well as those who will do so in the Spring 2026 semester will participate at Commencement on June 11th.
Our “August Grads” — those completing their degree requirements during the Spring semester — will walk at Commencement and hear their name called just like the other grads. Understandably, they will not receive their diploma nor have program completion reflected on their transcript until all degree requirements are met.
Those finishing their studies in the Fall 2026 semester will participate in next year’s Commencement (June 2027).
Our St. Lucia campus graduates will be celebrated at a separate Commencement there in October.
Ordering Your Cap and Gown
The online portal to order a cap and gown closed on Monday, May 11th.
Graduates who did not order their regalia in time are advised to contact graduation@monroeu.edu for assistance.
Guest Tickets
All graduates and guests wishing to attend Commencement are required by Radio City Music Hall to have a ticket.
We will have a lot more information about the ticketing process soon.
Number of Guest Tickets
We do not yet know how many tickets will be available for graduates' guests. We expect to make that announcement in late May.
Important Note About Children
Children two years old and above are required by the venue to have their own ticket. Unfortunately, we cannot issue any exemptions to that requirement. Babies and toddlers under two years old do not need a ticket, but they are required to stay on a guest's lap if they don't have one.
Registering to Attend Graduation
If you are planning to be at Radio City Music Hall on June 11th, you must RSVP by completing our registration form.
Think of it as an RSVP to a party. That's how you let us know you are coming -- and that's how we know to assign you tickets.
The deadline to register was Friday, May 15th.
Contact graduation@monroeu.edu for assistance if you missed the deadline.
Two Ceremonies
There will be two separate ceremonies held to accommodate our sizable graduating class and graduates’ guests. One will be held mid-morning and the other in the afternoon.
Graduates will be assigned to attend a specific ceremony, which will be based on the academic school that coincides with their major. (For example, all undergraduate majors within the School of Criminal and Social Justice will walk together at a specific ceremony).
We will announce the ceremony assignments this spring.
Undergraduate Commencement Awards
Undergraduate students who earned Latin Honors distinction -- graduating cum laude, magna cum laude or summa cum laude -- will be invited to join faculty and staff for a very special event called the Commencement Awards. It is a lovely celebration of exceptional academic achievement held at a breathtaking venue on the water.
Undergraduate students earn Latin Honors at Commencement based on their cumulative grade point average:
| Distinction | Required Cumulative Grade Point Average |
|---|---|
| Summa Cum Laude (With Highest Honor) | 3.80 to 4.00 |
| Magna Cum Laude (With High Honor) | 3.60 to 3.79 |
| Cum Laude (With Honor) | 3.40 to 3.59 |
Students earning summa cum laude recognition will be presented with a medallion to wear at Commencement.
Please watch for that invitation!

KGS Hooding Ceremony
Students graduating with a Master's degree are warmly invited to attend the Hooding Ceremony taking place the Tuesday before graduation.
The hooding ceremony is a special academic tradition that recognizes students who are receiving their Master’s degree. During the ceremony, a faculty member or academic advisor places a ceremonial hood over the graduate’s shoulders to symbolize the completion of their program and their transition into the professional and scholarly community of their field. The hood itself represents the graduate’s discipline and degree level through its colors and design.
It is a wonderful tradition and all KGS graduates are encouraged to attend and be celebrated.

Shout-outs for Family Members Graduating Together
Our Class of 2026 has many family members earning Monroe degrees together this year.
If you are graduating with your husband, wife, father, brother, sister, grandmother, uncle, cousin – or anyone in your family – please let us know. President Jerome will be giving a “shout out” during his Commencement remarks to family members graduating together this year from Monroe.
(To be clear, we are looking for family graduates, not your family guests in the audience.)
Send an email to graduation@monroeu.edu if you'd like to participate. Here’s what you need to provide:
- Both your names
- Your relationship to each other
- Degree types and majors
For example:
- Mary Frank and Rhonda Wright (cousins)
- Mary (Bachelor’s in Human Services)
- Rhonda (Associates in Criminal Justice)
Class Rings
Students interested in purchasing a class ring are encouraged to see the Monroe collection available from Balfour, our official class ring jeweler.
From timeless classics to bold, modern designs, there’s something to match every personality and accomplishment.
