The Power of Service: Alumnus Henry Montero’s Journey from Monroe to Mental Health Leadership

When Henry Montero graduated from Monroe University in April 2008 with his Bachelor's in Business Administration, he gained more than just a degree. He laid the groundwork for a future characterized by service, resilience, and leadership.

Today, Henry is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and the Managing Director of Alquimedez Mental Health Counseling, a telehealth behavioral health clinic. He dedicates his work to serving underrepresented and marginalized communities across the U.S.

Henry credits his time at Monroe for shaping the trajectory of his career.

“My years at Monroe provided me with a strong foundation, both personally and professionally,” he reflected. “The guidance, the support, and the experiences I had there set me on the path I walk today.”

Recently, Henry reached out to Monroe to recommend a young family friend who shares his passion for healthcare and aspires to become a nurse. Remembering the mentorship and encouragement he received as a student, Henry wanted to ensure that his family friend would experience the same supportive environment.

This commitment to uplifting others is a hallmark of Monroe graduates: individuals who are not only prepared for success but are also driven to serve and open doors for the next generation.

For Henry, the Monroe experience was far more than the completion of a degree -- it marked the beginning of a lifelong journey to make a meaningful impact.

His story is a testament to the transformative power of community and the leadership it cultivates -- leaders who are committed to giving back and creating lasting change.
