Monroe University Students Shine at 2025 ALPFA National Convention
Five outstanding student members of Monroe University's Association of Latino Professionals For America (ALPFA) Chapter proudly represented our institution at the 2025 ALPFA National Convention, held July 27–30 at Caesar’s Forum in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Over the course of the convention, the students immersed themselves in a range of career-building workshops, gaining valuable insights into networking, interviewing, and navigating pathways to success in the business world. They engaged directly with recruiters and professionals from Fortune 500 companies, Big Four accounting firms, and connected with fellow ALPFA members from across the country.
Karla Castillo, Monroe ALPFA Chapter’s Vice President of Events and a recipient of the 2025 ALPFA Convention Scholarship, described the experience as transformative:
“I can confidently say that the 2025 ALPFA National Convention exceeded all my expectations,” Karla shared. “The workshops gave us direct access to recruiters, the career fair helped me connect with my top-choice companies—and to my surprise, I landed my first interview with one of the Big Four firms. That gave me a huge boost in confidence.”
ALPFA’s mission—to empower and develop Latino leaders for the nation and the world—aligns closely with Monroe’s commitment to supporting the personal and professional growth of our students.
“I wouldn’t just recommend this convention to other Monroe students—I would insist they go,” Karla added. “It was an unforgettable experience filled with live music, meaningful networking, and lifelong friendships.”
Monroe University is incredibly proud of Karla Castillo, Reinaldo Lewin (Chapter Assistant Secretary), Aanalise Jones, Crystal Lee, and Frankly Hichez, as well as Faculty Advisor Professor Stephanie Kendrick, for the exceptional way they represented our university on this national stage. Their drive, professionalism, and passion are paving the way for even greater opportunities ahead.
Whether through internships with leading companies or leadership roles in student organizations like ALPFA, Monroe is dedicated to preparing business and accounting students to graduate as confident, capable, and socially responsible professionals. Arranging trips to important event such as this one is certainly part of that commitment.
