Monroe Nominated in Five Categories for 2025 “Best of the Bronx” Awards!

Exciting news! We are proud to announce that Monroe has been nominated in five categories for the 2025 Best of the Bronx Awards, a community-driven initiative that celebrates excellence across the borough.

These nominations reflect the institution's enduring commitment to academic quality, student success, and community impact. We've been a vibrant and engaged part of the Bronx since 1933, serving as an anchor institution for more than 90 years. Throughout our history, we've remained focused on expanding access to higher education, supporting economic mobility, and enriching the lives of students and families throughout the borough.

Today, Monroe’s impact is felt not only in classrooms, but in neighborhoods, workplaces, and civic life throughout the Bronx and beyond.

Last year, Monroe was honored by the public as the Best College in the Bronx, with President Marc Jerome recognized as Best College President. These honors were especially meaningful because they came directly from the Bronx community — those whose lives are shaped by, and in turn help shape, the work we do every day.

This year, Monroe has been nominated in the following categories in local media company Schneps Media's annual community survey:

- Best Adult Education Program
- Best College or University
- Best College President (Marc Jerome)
- Best College Sports Coach (both John Torres and Kevin Pulley Jr. are nominated!)
- Best College Sports Program

Recognition through the Best of the Bronx Awards is particularly meaningful because it reflects the views of the community itself — the students, residents, partners, and professionals who live and work in the borough.

As we look to the future, Monroe remains deeply committed to its mission and to the people of the Bronx. These nominations are a celebration of our shared progress and a reminder of what can be achieved when education, opportunity, and community come together.

We also encourage you to explore the full survey and recognize other Bronx institutions — including local restaurants, businesses, parks, and cultural events — that contribute to the borough’s energy and vibrancy.  Voting is now open, and Monroe invites its students, faculty, staff, alumni, and neighbors to help the College continue its legacy of recognition by casting their votes.
